Musique69 is now in its 20th year of business as a specialty store for unique items from Western rock and pop artists. As the store manager, I also operate a sister site, " Musique69 Archive Recordings ," an online store specializing in Japanese indie artists, as a personal hobby and for my own practical purposes.

We've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to carry 2 new CDs by the veteran Kyoto rock band Sukimanozarashi , due for release next week, on this site. So, we'd like to give you a sneak peek on them on this blog!

They are a venomous twin-guitar rock band that delivers powerful performances of songs they have honed through numerous live shows, including their long-running monthly solo live show at Takutaku, a long-established live house in Kyoto (this album's release show was their 113th!).

Seeing is believing. I found a cool video, so I thought you could check it out first to see what it's like.

Still, isn't it amazing that an indie rock band is releasing two new CDs simultaneously in 2025, the age of digital streaming? The two albums are worthy of the band's manly, hardcore style, and defy any sense of anachronism or outrageous behavior (see the link for product details).

Personally, I like a wide variety of music and artists, both Japanese and Western, but for decades my favorites have been rugged, realistic rock bands from the 70s. Sukimanozarashi is one such band.

Cheers to the fact that this twin-guitar rock band, which embodies the cool, poisonous, rugged, and shady rock bands of the 60s and 70s and seems to have been cultivated purely from scratch, exists here in Kyoto, Japan in 2025!
