Rod Jackson joined Slash's Snakepit as the band's second vocalist, and was popular with fans not only for his passionate singing on the album "Ain't Life Grand," but also for accompanying the band on their 2000 tour of Japan, where he showcased his powerful, soulful vocals.
Rod Jackson's whereabouts became unclear after Slash's Snakepit stopped activities (disbanded? broke up?), but he seems to have since moved to Sweden and been active there. In 2006, he quietly released the album "There's a Rhythm to These Streets" exclusively online with a rock band called "3 of a Different Kind".
Rod Jackson was originally known for his soulful singing style, and his singing voice stands out against the standard, funky rock sound of Snakepit, which is very different from the hard rock sound composed by Slash. If you like Rod Jackson's voice and singing style, this album is a must-listen even more than Snakepit's second album, "Ain't Life Grand." This is one of my favorite albums!
The tracks included on the picture disc CD are as follows:
By My Side
There's a Rhythm to These Streets
Falling in Love Again
I Want to Love You
What's Wrong with You
Hayward Blues
Those Heels
Springtime Rain
I'm Sorry
Pawnshop for the Stars
As an aside, Johnny Griparic, Slash's fellow bassist from his days in Snakepit, makes a guest appearance on four tracks.
