Singer-songwriter Kiki Dee quietly released her self-produced CD "The Rocket Years" in a paper sleeve exclusively via online shopping.
Kiki Dee is a female singer-songwriter who was active in Fontana/Tamla Motown (apparently she was the first foreign singer at Motown) from the late 60s. Later, in 1976, she became famous as a talented singer with her well-coordinated and free-flowing vocal interplay, for her duet with Elton John on the classic song "Don't Go Breaking My Heart," which became a No. 1 hit in the UK and the US.
Elton John was crazy about her at the time. He invited her to his label Rocket Records, produced her himself, and had the entire Elton John band back her up. She produced a number of high-quality British pop works, as can be seen in her albums "Loving & Free" and "I've Got the Music in Me."
Loving and Free
You Put Something Better Inside of Me
Song for Adam
Lonnie and Josie
Do It Right
Love
Talk to Me
Sugar on the Floor
Dark Side of Your Soul
Safe Harbor
Stay with Me Baby
I've Got the Music in Me
Night Hours
Water
This album compiles recordings from her glorious time with Rocket Records from 1973-1978, and contains a total of 14 songs, as mentioned above. As expected, it is a work from her prime, and it fully demonstrates Kiki Dee's singing talent (apparently the songs were selected by Kiki Dee herself). This is a must-have album for Elton John fans and other 70's British pop fans!
We apologize for the rather high retail price of this title, but we have stocked it at an increased price to allow 10% of sales to be donated to the Elton John Aids Foundation, which was established by Elton John. Also, a sticker that imitates the Rocket Records label design has been hand-applied to the printed paper sleeve, and the inner sleeve to hold the pressed CD has also been printed. All of these have been put together as a set, and there is even a hole in the center of the sleeve that resembles a record, which is a nice touch. It also includes a handwritten signature by Kiki Dee herself (small, but one on each of the inner sleeves), so we hope you will understand.
<Please be aware!>
This is a "hand-signed" edition, with Kiki Dee personally signing each disc. Please note that the signatures may be clear or unclear, may be different pen colors, or may have been signed at different times, and may not necessarily match the photos (returns and exchanges are not accepted).
