"METALLICA - September 16, 2021 | San Francisco, CA | The Independent" is an official bootleg CD available exclusively online, recording Metallica's performance at a small club in San Francisco on September 16, 2021 (venue capacity 400 people!).

The announcement of the live show was a surprise to local members of the official Metallica fan club, who were notified of it via text message on the morning of the day. For Metallica, it was their first performance in front of an audience in 738 days.

And it was a historic night as the opening song was Metallica's "Whiplash," a first for the band!
