The 1973 debut album by American funk band Lafayette Afro Rock Band, a frequent source of samples and a treasure trove of riffs, was reissued in 2025 as a limited edition of 500 cassette tapes, "The Lafayette Afro-Rock Band - Soul Makossa: Gold Shell Limited Edition (cassette)."

Initially, the band and album remained obscure upon their release. However, after being rediscovered in later DJ culture, they were re-evaluated as a masterpiece, highly praised for its masterful fusion of Afro-funk grooves and powerful rock riffs.

This 2025 "Cassette Week" release explodes with a timeless and incredibly powerful funk sound, presented with overwhelmingly cool album artwork that perfectly utilizes the cassette's vertical format.
